Another fun day racing on the Gold Coast Seaway!
Great turn out from Noosa, with a variety of small craft represented. Tough conditions, plus swell and wind building through the day meant competitors for the long course (ocean) were given a choice of either ocean or staying inside the Broadwater. We had been looking forward to some ocean fun and games, but given we were in the 3 man (without storm covers) the decision was made to stay inside. As it turned out the whole field was redirected to stay inside as conditions became too dangerous (this may be the reason that unfortunately 3 Noosa crews are missing times and therefore place allocations). We still had 2 challenging turns to negotiate at the end of the Seaway, followed by some fun chasing bumps for the smaller craft. Choppy, sticky water and the tantalising whiff of sausage sizzles and somehow garlic bread(!) from the beach ensured all focus had to be in the boat.
As always, a great day of racing and hanging out together. Special thanks to Ros & Justin for towing the trailer, and to all those who smoothed the hiccups with transport – those of us who couldn’t muck in beforehand greatly appreciate you. Justin probably raised a few eyebrows on the Bruce with his choice of ‘oversize flag’. I just hope he did actually pay a visit to an Op Shop and not some poor ladies’ washing line!
